Richard Gillan, Managing Partner, Grant Thornton Northern Ireland
We all know it. The importance of people in an organistion. But in professional services firms, people aren’t just important – they are, just about, “everything”.
The outbreak of COVID-19 and the economic lockdowns that followed brought obvious difficulties – not just for our people, but for employees and organisations throughout the world.
However, thanks to the amazing contribution of our people, 2020 was another record year for the firm.
Growth continued at a relentless pace as we worked with clients on some of the greatest challenges they have ever faced, including their response to the COVID-19 pandemic and their preparation for the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
And now, as businesses gear up for post-pandemic growth, we are witnessing a further significant increase in activity.
Much has changed, but there is a tremendous sense of hope and optimism, aided by the success of the vaccine programme and the outworkings of pent-up consumer demand that can kickstart the economy.
As a result, we have embarked on another major recruitment drive, having already added 45 colleagues to our team over the last 12 months.
The strategy is simple – focus on creating the right culture to continually attract and retain the very best talent, which in turn secures fantastic new clients and delivers the right results.
Asked in our recent Annual Staff Satisfaction Survey, how likely they were to recommend Grant Thornton in Northern Ireland as a place to work, more than half rated the firm as ‘nine or ten out of ten’.
Our team regularly tell us that they like the fact we are not a ‘back-office’ function for London or Dublin. They appreciate too that decisions on their career progression are made locally – and that while we work hard, we always have fun doing it!
Currently, we are seeking to recruit right across our Audit, Tax and Advisory departments. These roles include Associate Directors and Managers in VAT, Corporate Tax, Corporate Finance; Seniors and Administrators in Audit, with further roles in the Economic Advisory and People and Change teams.
If you’re ambitious and keen to challenge yourself somewhere that prides itself on doing things differently, get in touch – we would love to hear from you.
