Belfast City Airport has celebrated the beginning of the festive season with its annual Christmas tree light-switch on event.
Pupils from the airport’s adopted schools, Victoria Park PS, Mitchell House PS, Towerview PS, St Joseph’s PS, Cregagh PS, Seaview PS and St Malachy’s PS, joined Santa and Mrs Claus at the terminal to bring Christmas cheer to arriving and departing passengers.
Michelle Hatfield, Chief People and Marketing Officer, at Belfast City Airport, said:
“We were thrilled to welcome pupils from our adopted schools to our lights switch event, marking the beginning of the Christmas period at Belfast City Airport. This year was made extra special thanks to some very special guests from the North Pole!
“Christmas is our busiest time of year, and we’re looking forward to welcoming upwards of 10,000 passengers daily to the airport over the coming weeks as many people travel home to spend the holiday period with friends and family.
“We have a number of festive events and activities planned throughout December including school choir performances, our popular gift-wrapping stations, and an exciting on-air competition in partnership with Cool FM and Aer Lingus Regional.
“Christmas has officially landed at Belfast City Airport, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with our staff and passengers!”
Belfast City Airport currently operates routes to 31 destinations across the UK and beyond in partnership with its six airline partners, Aer Lingus, British Airways, easyJet, KLM, Loganair, and Lufthansa.
The airport was recently named the UK’s Most Punctual Airport for Q1 and Q2 2023 following the publication of research from the Civil Aviation Authority.
