Belfast Chamber has become the first chamber organisation to be awarded the prestigious Belfast Business Promise member accreditation, a pioneering initiative designed to recognise employers committed to making Belfast a better place to live, work and do business.
The Belfast Business Promise sets a benchmark of excellence for organisations across the city, focusing on creating quality jobs, supporting a sustainable local economy, and fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration within the city.
Clare Guinness, CEO of Belfast Chamber, commented:
“We are incredibly proud to be the first chamber to achieve this accreditation. It provides recognition not just of our work, but of our commitment to leading by example. Belfast Chamber has always been focused on supporting local businesses, promoting sustainable growth, and fostering a culture of inclusion.
“This accreditation reinforces our pledge to continue to drive positive impact across our city and to champion best practice for the benefit of all who live and work here. We hope our achievement inspires other organisations to take meaningful action for a stronger, more sustainable Belfast.”
The accreditation is designed to be flexible and accessible, allowing businesses of all sizes and across all sectors to participate and join a growing community dedicated to promoting positive change.
Fiona McAteer, High Sheriff of Belfast, added:
“The Belfast Business Promise represents a bold and collaborative vision for our city. By setting high standards and encouraging businesses to work together, it promotes not only economic growth but also social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
“Organisations such as Belfast Chamber are leading the way, demonstrating what can be achieved when businesses commit to inclusivity, employee well-being, and local investment. Their example demonstrates how strategic leadership can create opportunities and strengthen communities across our city.”
As an accredited Belfast Business Promise organisation, Belfast Chamber has committed to a set of pledges that represent best practice across all areas of business.
These commitments include offering fair wages and secure contracts, supporting the local economy, reducing environmental impact, promoting inclusive recruitment and workforce diversity, and investing in employee well-being, development, and training.
Belfast Chamber also upholds ethical and transparent business practices, encourages community engagement, and prioritises continuous improvement and innovation.
By signing the Belfast Business Promise, employers demonstrate a clear commitment to collaboration, ongoing growth, and creating opportunities that strengthen both the city and its communities.
